U.S. World Class Taekwondo Bethany and Beaverton. Recipients of World Open Awards.
May 9th of 2015, Portland Oregon Convention Center, U.S. World Open. Athletes from Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Hong Kong, Canada, United States and more registered for this prestigious event. Bethany's U.S. World Class Taekwondo Academy of Martial Arts lined up our Elite Team Athletes to participate in World Class Events both Olympic Taekwondo Sparring and Poomsae. Also, USWC Bethany had one certified referee appointed to officiate at the event. At 9:00 am competition went on a strong start with Forms and Board-breaking events in full swing, then, the opening ceremony with some "out of this world" martial arts demonstrations by teams from Canada and Washington State. Master Danny Jang from USWC Tigard played the United States National Anthem on his saxophone. The appointed MC for the event, Master Sam Lider of USWC Gresham announced Chief Grand Master Shin, the president and founder of the U.S. World Class Taekwondo, who held a brief speech, wishing everyone best of luck. Recognition and Participation Awards, as well as Best School Trophies were presented by Chief Grand Master Shin. U.S. World Class Taekwondo Bethany Team was a proud recipient of such award. " I want to thank everyone for their support for that without them we won't be receiving the recognition we have received today. We look forward to seeing everyone trying their best today. Sportsmanship should be the word of the day. We are here to play this game. Therefore, there will be winning, there will be losing. Regardless of the outcome, we look back and we learn, so we make sure that we are better equipped and prepared for the next tournament. Everyone is excited today. Although I am not personally competing, I definitely get the adrenaline rush. Let's do this! U.S. World Class Taekwondo Bethany Black Belt appointed as a World Open Referee.
We managed to get some statements at the end of the competition from the Coaches: "Our team brought home 13 Gold, 11 Silver, and 10 Bronze Medals. " Said Mr. A.J. Loya one of the Bethany Team Coaches and a Chief Instructor with U.S. World Class Taekwondo Bethany Academy of Martial Arts. Taekwondo Sparring is an official Summer Olympics Event and it gets extremely competitive at the Black Belt Level. U.S. World Class Taekwondo Bethany's martial arts program is designed to help students achieve success, with emphasis on core values such Attitude, Behavior, Character. Our primary goal is not the competition arena but to develop strong, self reliable individuals. For a select group of students wanting to take their training to the next level we run a special elite training program that always starts in the fall for both Poomsae (Forms) and Sparring. " Although we lost some matches today, I am happy to see great improvement in key areas. It is small steps, but at the end of the day that's all it matters. Progress. We did overcome a lot of challenges throughout this season. We come back home with lessons learned and looking forward to the next opportunity. Amazing awaits.
